One evening in early March, you go about the last few minutes before bed planning what you are going to do the next day. You have just pulled off your socks, and barefoot for the first time since the morning, you lay out next to your bed the attire you plan to wear the next day. Some hours later, that alarm on your nightstand goes off and craving those few minutes of extra sleep, you hit the snooze one or two times. Finally after battling with your subconscious, you roll out of bed. You pad over to your sink in your bare feet, and wash up, brush your teeth and proceed to get dressed for the day, putting on that jacket and tie, blouse or dress. The time seems to flash by and you realize that you'd better hit the road.

Forgot Your Shoes?

You rush out the door and while waiting for the bus or train, or waiting to receive a package at the UPS office, you casually glance around. Your eyes are drawn to the shmorgasborg of footwear that is surrounding you. A pair of running sneakers paired with ankle socks. Next to that a pair of worn out scuffed up work boots flanked by a pair of jeans. A lady wearing a pair of elegant high heel boots with stockings making her legs appear as they were dipped in a bottle of indian ink. As you shift your stance, you feel your toes bend and as soon as your heel lands softly but unimpeded on the cool pavement, you realize that something is quite not right, but at the same time, it is so right.

You finally force yourself to look down and much to your shock, that your toes are in plain view and between your bare soles and the ground exists nothing in between. Before you tell yourself to snap out of it - it is only your imagination, something brings you back to reality when the lady beside you asks matter-of-factly, "forgot your shoes?"

You look down again and tell yourself that it can't be. But there are your toes staring back up at you. You feel the pavement underneath get colder as your foot feels the reality underneath. You lift up one foot and turn it in to notice your bare sole, now blackened from having not worn any footwear since the night before. You put your bare foot back down and look around again to realize that all those looks of those around you - some chuckles, some in shock or slight smiles - are fixed on your bare feet - quite a rare sight! Not even a pair of socks or the most minimalist footwear like flip flops - your feet in the raw! You feel like you're having one of those nightmares where you are naked in the company of everyone around you that is clothed.

Chances are you may react by clutching the side of your head in disbelief as you utter - "OMG! I can't believe I forgot to put on my shoes and socks! How was I barefoot this whole time?!"

You are ready to panic and dash home if you are close enough to scramble into your shoes and socks. If you are far from home already, you resign yourself to the fact you're somewhat naked - stuck in your bare feet while you toggle through your mind looking for first excuse you can find to tell them that you're going be late for your job or interview - any way to avoid of being seen "GASP" barefoot!

Now rest assured, chances are that since putting on footwear before leaving your home is so routine, it is highly unlikely that this will ever happen to you.

Let's say it did, however. Another feeling comes over you. You shrug and smile at those around you as if to say, "hey, look at that. I'm barefoot on a cool winter day!" It could actually be fun and you may relish in the fact that while others are bundled up, their feet separated from the outside world in their shoes and socks, here you are experiencing full freedom by feeling the cool ground underneath your bare feet.

I know I do. Many times I'm asked if I forgot my shoes. The question tends to be irrelevant since most of the time I don't wear shoes or socks at all.

Sometimes the answer is yes - since I'm so used to having absolutely nothing on my feet, those seldom occasions where I feel that footwear might make a favorable first impression, I'll end up anyway forgetting to bring along my footwear and end up coming to my appointments or meetings barefoot.

But rather than panicking, I end up being thrilled as I look forward to another day of living a healthy lifestyle in my naturally reliable bare feet and go forward with what I was planning to do for the day.

Barefoot as a Healthy Lifestyle

Guys, how many of you enjoy that feeling of getting home after a long day of work, and kicking off your shoes and peeling off those socks? And ladies in those uncomfortable heels, how great a relief is it to relieve your feet of that constraining feeling as well as peeling off those hose! As soon as your feet are breathing and your bare soles hit the floor or carpet, you feel like a new person, right?

Now how about those days when you go to the park or at the beach, you rush to be the first one to ditch your footwear and feel the cool grass under your soles or ocean waves brushing between your toes! Invigorating, right?

Now, just imagine experiencing that relief for an entire day. Your heels, arches, and toes are able happily stretch and breath without the constraints of anything on them. No waiting til you get home to bring your feet back to their natural state - bare - after almost ten nonstop hours in the office, or running around. Just imagine that feeling for an entire day. If you can imagine that, imagine being in that blissful state for multiple days at a time?

If you haven't imagined it, no need to worry, I don't imagine it either since, to begin with I almost never wear any kind of footwear. So rather than using my imagination, I get to live the experience of allowing my bare soles be in contact with every surface uninteruppted 24/7 and live the barefoot healthy lifestyle!

Living A Barefoot Healthy Lifestyle

Many people are realizing the health benefits of going barefoot. There are many articles written, and several health and wellness specialists are highly recommending it.

However, although there is a wealth of resources pertaining to the health benefits of bare feet, it seems that most of Western society looks at it as a something unsanitary, uncivilized and unprofessional while the most fashionable shoes, however uncomfortable and constraining they may be for your feet are seen as sophisticated and fashionable.

For the person who is educated about the benefits of going barefoot and conscious having healthy feet, unless he lives in a barefoot society, this can actually cost him his livelihood and social life. and it is for this reason that I created this site and named it the Barefoot Healthy Lifestyle.

The Barefoot Healthy Lifestyle is more than just about the joys of going barefoot. In this site I provide ideas and examples about how to implement your lifestyle choice. Your lifestyle choice consists of three components:

Health - as this site will show you through the careful research of articles and cases, the health benefits of going barefoot far outweigh the benefits of shoes. You will have the knowledge to present to anyone that challenges your lifestyle.

Wealth - This is a key determining factor about making your lifestyle choice. We all need to put food on the table, pay our bills and support ourselves and our families. But the question is do we need to sacrifice the things we are most passionate about? This will not bring happiness or even wealth. Wealth is not necessarily about having a ton of money and material possessions. Rather it is about having the freedom of choice how you want to live.

Does your work mainly get you by on your daily expenses or are you able to decide on the choice of the lifestyle you want to live.

Since I made the choice to be barefoot every minute of the day, I ruled out the option of a corporate 9-5 job carefully researching my other options and finding many that earn way more income than the 9-5 life.

In other sections in this site I will delve further about how you can earn a substantial income without having to compromise your lifestyle. If fact after you've gone through this site you will have the ability to earn more than the nine to five employee forced to comply with the office dress code

Freedom - Freedom is having the ability to live a lifestyle you want, deal with who you want, where you want and when you want. In living a life based on wages rather then profit, this is next to impossible.

Since freeing my feet and living a healthier lifestyle my goal is to help like-minded people achieve the same goals while accumulating wealth so you will never have to comply with someone else's rules and thus attain the freedom to maintain the lifestyle of your choice!

The Barefoot Healthy Lifestyle promotes the pleasure of being barefoot any time and any place you choose. You will learn and teach others how they can live a not only a healthier more prosperous lifestyle - and of their choice!

So kick off your shoes, take off your socks, flex those bare feet, wiggle your toes, and experience the joys of the Barefoot Healthy Lifestyle!

slodoranhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17946170464710635925noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1090684554883524538.post-21327613530354281532014-02-18T08:10:00.000-08:002014-02-18T08:10:08.950-08:00Weight Loss Tips - Are You Living A Healthy Lifestyle?

In our world there lives a strong fast and convenience food culture and obesity is commonplace. They never have done and I do not suppose that they ever will. This is a fact of life and there is little point in trying to change things. A youngster will push the boundaries as far as is possible and they find it reassuring to reach the limit of these boundaries. This gives them a feeling that you care about them. However, if you are constantly arguing about their lifestyle then things can become difficult. When you are dealing with how to get children to live a healthy lifestyle, the last thing that you need is confrontation. This can lead to other problems and backfire in the way of eating disorders etc.

Eating habits are a major concern and if you are concerned with how to get children to live a healthy lifestyle then it is one area which must be addressed. Children have a natural desire to eat junk food. To a degree this will do them no harm and if you try to stop this natural instinct you will probably encourage them to pursue it in excess. As long as your child is eating an otherwise healthy and well balanced diet then they will suffer no long term ill effects from the occasional meal or snack of junk food. What you must be keen to avoid is a constant diet of processed and pre-packaged foods. You should try to give them a well balanced and fresh meal every day and make sure that they have healthy snacks for when they get hungry between meals.

Many guidelines have been given as to how to get children to live a healthy lifestyle when it comes to their diet. Some of these are produced by manufacturers of so-called healthy foods. These may include the increasingly large range of healthy option processed foods. Although many of these are an improvement on the original products you may still find that the reduced levels of fat, salt etc are still very high. The best advice is to use as many fresh and natural products as possible and try not to substitute these for processed foods. Many nutrients are negated during the preparing of these meals and are they are often surprisingly low in protein and vitamins and high in salt and fat.

Exercise must obviously be high on the agenda if you are interested to know how to get children to live a health lifestyle. There are ways of getting your children to exercise without them being aware of what you are doing. An enforced two mile jog in the morning is not going to be high on their list of favorite activities on a Saturday, but a dance class may appeal to the girls (or possibly even boys). They may be keen to train with basketball or hockey clubs and any sports such as these should be encouraged. If they are not at all interested in any sporting activities, this does not mean that they can spend all day in front of the television. Vitamin D is a very important nutrient which is becoming lacking in many children's diet. This is produced by the body in response to sunlight. What the children are doing outside does not make any difference just being out in the daylight is what counts.

The need for fresh air and daylight is very much underestimated these days and just playing out with friends is an important example of how to get children to live a healthy lifestyle.

slodoranhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17946170464710635925noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1090684554883524538.post-72686135672887896362014-02-16T05:14:00.000-08:002014-02-16T05:14:00.199-08:00Taking Responsibility For Your Own Healthy Lifestyle Choices

There is a wealth of information on the internet about women's health and fitness but ultimately you need to take responsibility for your own healthy lifestyle choices.

Do you want to boost your energy levels?

Maintain a healthy weight?

Reduce your stress levels?

Lead a healthier life?

Reassess your lifestyle choices?

Find an exercise routine designed to fit your lifestyle?

Whatever your reasons or motivation changing your lifestyle and habits, it is a gradual process. Part of the problem is we are encouraged to think, mostly by the media, that we should be doing everything possible towards a healthy lifestyle, all of the time. For most of us this is just not possible.

Constant concern about what we should or shouldn't be doing causes our stress levels to go up and that negates any good work that we've done. Yes, we should certainly try for a healthy lifestyle, but the two key words are "moderation" and "balance". By applying these criteria to achieving a healthy lifestyle we won't be beating ourselves up for failing another diet or dropping out of the latest exercise regime.

A common mistake that many people make when they decide to adopt a healthy lifestyle is to try to do too much too soon. They then give themselves a guilt complex when it all falls apart. It is also easy to be influenced by others, when we should only be adopting a healthy lifestyle plan to suit ourselves.

Ah! Did I say lifestyle plan? Do you have one, or do you just try the next thing that is in your magazine or Sunday supplement? By all means read these articles and take them into account as you plan how you want your healthy lifestyle to take shape.

Leading a healthy lifestyle doesn't mean you have got to run a mile before breakfast, eat seeds and think pure thoughts. Great if that's what you want, but for most of us "healthy" means being in reasonable shape, eating our fruit and vegetables and generally having a feeling of vitality.

Decide on your definition of a healthy lifestyle, and then plan a strategy that works for you.

As part of my health plan I decided I wanted to walk in the mornings before breakfast, but there was no way I wanted to get up at the crack of dawn to do it. So I planned a ten minute circuit that includes a short flight of steps and a not too steep incline. I power walked that route every day and felt really good. Sure l wouldn't make the City to Surf marathon, but I compromised and made it work for me.

Today, much is made of organic foods, but the reality is that organic food is generally more expensive and well out of the range for most budgets. Yes organic is probably the best option, but it doesn't mean that if you're not eating all organic you are not eating right. If you're concerned about general produce, be a bit discerning when you shop. Look for fruit and vegetables that are fresh and unblemished. You should also buy product brands that you can trust. If you shop wisely, you can have a well-balanced healthy diet that won't break the bank.

Basically living a healthy life means looking at your lifestyle as a whole, it is not just about diet and exercise. It is not always necessary to make major changes. Most people know their weak spots, and are happy if they can make a few changes that show results.

A friend of mine was drinking several cans of soft drink a day. She was feeling tired and generally under the weather. When I read an article about the health risk of soft drink I copied it and gave it to her, whereupon she decided to give up the soft drink there and then. A week later she got back to me and said she couldn't believe the difference, her energy levels were up and she was feeling great. Just that one change was able to make a difference and she feels good about the healthy choice.

Sleep and leisure time play a big part in a healthy lifestyle, and for the most part people underestimate the value of good sleep. Our bodies aren't designed to operate at peak performance twenty four hours a day. Anyone in industry knows that machines that have to work continuously need a lot of maintenance. When we are sleeping our body is healing and regenerating itself and we should wake up feeling refreshed and revitalized.

We can go without sleep for extended periods, but we can't do it indefinitely. The amount of sleep an individual needs varies a great deal, and there is no such thing as the right time to sleep. Obviously most people sleep at night, but if you are one of those folk that comes alive in the small hours, you might need to catch up with your sleep during the day.

A big part of healthy living is being comfortable with yourself. Don't be pressured into trying to attain a certain look, or push yourself down a career path you are not suited to. Constant worry about what you are doing will only have the opposite effect on your health. Don't get paranoid about your diet, about what toothpaste you should use or about expensive exercise equipment you need to buy.

Allow a common sense approach to dictate when you are making lifestyle choices, and remember, there is nothing wrong with compromise if it means your healthy lifestyle plan will work for you.

slodoranhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17946170464710635925noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1090684554883524538.post-71267936840609930782014-02-12T03:33:00.000-08:002014-02-12T03:33:00.619-08:00Starting Your Kids With A Healthy Lifestyle

In this world where technology is rising, it is more difficult to cultivate a healthy lifestyle for kids. It is always a common scenario in each family to see kids holding their game console, cellphone, laptops and spending too much time in front of the television. This is extremely difficult to let them get their butts out and be more active in the outdoors especially if both parents are working full time. However, providing a healthy lifestyle for kids may be easier once parents are involved in the activities. Here are ways you can do to promote a healthy lifestyle for kids.

First, provide your kids with nutritious meals. It is your obligation to see to it that your children are getting enough nutrition to sustain them physically and mentally. It is a fact that nearly all children these days are suffering from obesity epidemic that make them more prone to illness and diseases. Do not allow your children to eat junk foods such as pizzas and hamburgers all the time. Take time to prepare them a meal which is low in fat and sugar content.

Establish an ideal time to go to bed. Set guidelines which your children must follow when it comes to viewing television and playing games. Give them time to play and watch but make sure you observe their sleep. Ensure that they receive enough time to sleep and rest and not remain up late all the time. Some resolutions are much more difficult to keep than others. Typically these resolutions are statements of ultimate purpose. Personal promises are made to lose weight, complete a monumental task, spend more time with the family or live a more healthy lifestyle. Plans and aggressive schedules are hastily cobbled together to attain our lofty goals, occasionally fueled by champagne and high spirits. The biggest challenge comes later, with 364 more days to fulfill the promises and commitments made on New Years Eve.

Commitments to take control of our lives are often sparked by some special occasion or change in season. Preparing for summer, facing ourselves in the mirror with a bathing suit and pale complexion, that is enough to ignite a temporary transformation. Preparing for a family gathering, a wedding or a school reunion can also be cause for personal reflection and prompt attention to our appearance and our lifestyle. You do not have to wait for a new year, a change in the seasons or a celebration to take control of your life. Taking control of your life can be a daily celebration, a renewable resolution and as gradual as the change in the seasons.

By focusing on the goal, and not on the process, sometimes we try to do too much at once. For example, joining a fitness club on Friday and deciding to work out one hour every day may seem like a great plan during the weekend, and then suddenly seem like a great burden by Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Losing 30 pounds can lose it's excitement once the first 10 pounds are erased and the next 20 pounds become a struggle. Sudden changes in eating habits can impact your level of energy, your emotions and your attitude. Drastic changes may be difficult to sustain, even after the goals are attained.

Creating a healthy lifestyle means adjusting your daily routine. If you can repeat something for 30 days, it becomes part of your routine and part of your lifestyle. You can adjust your lifestyle gradually over time, achieving your goals in a manner that can be sustained and maintained. For example, maybe you want to be able to run a mile or two every day. Start by walking for ten minutes at approximately the same time every morning or every evening. If you can maintain this commitment for one month, then you can extend it to twenty minutes another month, and then later to thirty minutes. After several months, you will be able to adjust your time, five minutes jogging and fifteen minutes walking, and so on. By the time that you are running for one or two miles, you will have established a comfortable routine, and you will have continuously improved your healthy lifestyle during the course of the preparation.

Creating a healthy lifestyle might also include controlling or decreasing unwanted or unfavorable habits. For example, you might have a desire to change your routine by decreasing consumption of alcohol or tobacco. You might want to limit your intake of salt, soda or sweets. Rather than punishing yourself with a starvation diet, you might begin by making a commitment to limit your 'fast food' consumption to three times per week. If you can maintain that lifestyle for one or two months, then you might reduce it to two days per week, or even one day. The secrets to success are consistency and realistic goals with personal commitment and tracking.

Begin by making a list of things that you want to do and a list of things that you want to reduce. Don't try to do everything at once. Rather, choose one thing that you would like to do, determine a reasonable portion of it to start with, and do that for one month. Remember, you are not going to start by running a mile on the first day, so choose a portion of your goal that you can turn into a daily commitment. Focus on your commitment, track, and keep your daily routine for one month. Then, the following month, continue to keep that routine while you begin to do something from the list of things that you want to reduce. Keep up the pace as you alternate months, adding good habits and slowly reducing the unwanted ones.

Don't worry that you are not changing everything overnight. By taking time to control your routines, change your habits and create a healthy lifestyle, you are making more permanent improvements to your life. Rapid changes with overnight improvements can sometimes result in rapid changes back to the unwanted habits. However, if you can make a continuous commitment, no matter how seemingly small or insignificant at the time, maintaining long term changes can have long lasting results.

It's time to create your healthy lifestyle. You can start right away. Now is the best time to start. Make a list of positive improvements in small and manageable steps. Make a list of thing that you would like to control, decrease or slowly give up. Choose your first new habit, track it for a month and make it your new routine. Keep that habit as you begin to work on the next one the following month. It's your life, and you have plenty of time to turn it into the lifestyle that you want to live.

For your convenience, a Healthy Lifestyle planner is available at http://www.executiveblueprints.com/pdf/healthy_lifestyle.xls

______________________________________________________

Words of Wisdom

"Exercise alone provides psychological and physical benefits. I improved my ½ mile time as well as my flexibility and range of motion in several joints (at the age of 42 I am by far in the best condition of my life). This has happened since the release of the original press release "The Healthy Lifestyle Coach" on Feb. 10th, 2005 while implementing this unique combination of two different lifestyles. How exciting for me it is to have proof that you can have a healthier inside and a more muscular, toned/ripped physique with enhanced athleticism, at the same time. It's the best of both worlds, if you will. I have implemented the holistic changes listed at the end of this update consistently since Feb. 15th, 2005.

Common sense would tell us that the foundation is the most important part of any structure. It is the starting point. Therefore, to have the ultimate body, we must focus on the health of our organs, blood and cells. What good is an amazing body with ripped abs if it comes at the expense of being unbalanced and is only short-lived because the foundation is not firm.

In my opinion, I believe even more strongly now than ever that we can have the best of both worlds: a ripped physique and a holistic, healthy inside. I know that we can LIVE STRONG, AND LONG. I promise you that I will continue to bring you what I have learned, and what I am learning as I siphon through the onslaught of information and use myself as a guinea pig. I feel privileged to be your coach, your leader by example, if you will.

MORE ON THE HEALTH ON THE INSIDE

The quality of your life is based on the quality of your cells. In order to both survive and prosper, cells must have:

o Oxygen

o Water

o Nutrients (potassium, sodium, magnesium, calcium and zinc, among others)

o The ability to eliminate their own waste.

Without these four things, which are dramatically affected by the quality of your blood (your river of life), your cells cannot survive. When any one of the above four is compromised, your cells cannot thrive.

When you break our body's cells down to the smallest particles (atoms, protons and neutrons) you will find that each particle has an electrical energy that keeps the particles in motion. Our bodies literally have an electric energy that is measurable. When your atoms have high electrical energy, your energy is high, your cells can function optimally and your red blood cells don't stick together. When your atoms' energy is very low, your cells cannot function optimally and your red blood cells stick together and move more slowly, and so do you. When your atoms have no electrical energy, neither do you, and you are dead. In order to give your cells the best chance of being completely healthy, our blood must have a precise chemical balance. Alkalinity/acidity is measured on a scale of 1-14, with 1 being pure acid, 7 being neutral and 14 pure alkaline. Your blood must maintain a slightly alkaline pH of 7.365.

To check the PH of your blood can quickly and in evasively

When there is a disturbance to this balance, the red blood cells begin to clump together. When that happens, they are no longer able to efficiently able to travel through the capillaries and feed the cells throughout the body. The pH stands for potential for hydrogen. The pH of your blood is along the same lines as the pH of your pool or your hot tub. When the balance is out of whack the water gets polluted. It's the same thing with your blood.

Everyone's bodies are being pushed to their limits. They, to some extent, are toxic and acidic. The modern fast-paced lifestyle has brought so many things to the table that our bodies were not designed for. Our fight-or-flight stressor hormones like cortisol are at an all-time high. People are not slowing down to rest like they used to. With all the technology and the to-do lists, we are stressed out more than ever. Put on top of that the highly processed convenient foods for the masses with all the chemicals and preservatives and you have a severe problem.

PREVENTING BLOOD ACIDITY

When given the correct internal environment, the human body is an incredible self-healing machine. The more acidic that our blood becomes, the less ability our body has to fight off infection, disease, and premature aging. It is not very difficult to lower acidity of the blood. The following are some areas to focus on if you find that your blood is below 7.36:

THE BIG THREE AREAS OF FOCUS

o Emotions Anger, fear, overwhelm, frustration, inadequacy, and low self-esteem are all acidic emotions. These emotions induce more negative hormones like cortisol. We have all heard it before, but believe me: the mind is much stronger than we ever know. Life is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Watch the words that come out of your mouth. Chances are you are not even aware of how many times you say, "I am sick and tired, I have no time, I am overwhelmed, back to the grind," etc. Even if you feel it, do not speak it.

o Nutrition Eliminate highly processed convenient foods that are full of chemicals and preservatives, and replace them with foods that are fresh and organic. If it doesn't spoil, don't eat it. All food has an electrical energy. If we are constantly eating foods that don't give energy back, we will become toxic and acidic. Some foods that have electrical energy include: most veggies, lemons, cucumbers, most grasses (wheat) and almonds.

"LET YOUR MEDICINE BE YOUR FOOD AND YOUR FOOD BE YOUR MEDICINE"

Hippocrates (460-377 B.C.), the Father of Medicine, who compiled a list of over four hundred herbs and their uses.

It is absolutely a certainty that we must strive to live a balanced life and eat as high quality natural organic foods as we can get our hands on. WE MUST, ONLY USE PHARMACUETICALS (DRUGS) AFTER EVERY OTHER NATURAL AND HOLISTIC REMEDY IS USED. Then we must try to release as much stress as possible and focus on health, energy, laughter, and longevity and wait as long as we can. At this point and only at this point, if the symptoms persist, should we consider drugs. GET OFF AS MANY DRUGS AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE.

o Healthy lifestyle choices Get plenty of rest, the right amount of exercise, and keep acidic addictions such as coffee, tobacco and alcohol to a bare minimum. If you are presently using one of them, do not cut cold turkey. Cut usage in half and seek some social support. Hire a trainer, go for walks, hang around a health club, etc. Eat less per meal, eat more meals per day, and start moving/walking more. Keep it simple.

"THE FUNGUS AMONG-US"

Candida albicans is a microbe known as yeast, and it is a normal inhabitant of the body. For a variety of reasons, it can become a pathogen--a disease-causing fungus that feeds on the body and weakens the immune system, which the medical community often views as the source of allergies, AIDS, chronic fatigue (Epstein-Barr), herpes and many other illnesses.

The naturally occurring yeast resides in the gastrointestinal (G.I.) tract. The primary diet of the yeast and fungi that live in our bodies is sugar, grains, and glueten for energy and protein for development and growth. They (the yeast and fungi and their mycotoxins) greatly contribute to the over-acidification of our systems, thus producing a myriad of disease and symptomlogy.

Candida is quickly becoming recognized by holistic medical practitioners as "the disease behind the other diseases".

I believe that bodybuilders (we are all bodybuilders) who are eating clean need to learn this concept just as much as the average under-active American who is eating highly processed garbage. As extreme athletes, we are pushing our systems to the limits. We are tearing our bodies down daily, and this includes our muscles, as well as our nervous, hormonal, endocrine, elimination and recovery systems. We are releasing incredible amounts of lactic acid into our systems, adding to the already acidic system.

I have a personal regimen that has worked very well. When I get up in the morning, I take a serving of L-glutamine and a serving of green drink. The green drink is usually a mixture of different kinds of wheat/barley grasses, and I take it with warm water to help with absorption. This L-glutamine is a calorie free way to help fight catabolism, which is the process of your body using its own muscle for energy.

Then, I suck on an organic lemon as I drive to my club. I do some interval cardio, stretching, prayer/meditation, goal setting/incantations, and some visualization (with a vision board) before my first client at 6:30 a.m.

I wait one hour, and then I have my first meal, a 5-ounce organic breast and some green beans. Throughout the day I will eat every three hours with protein and carbs combined together. My 6:00 p.m. meal is almost always an organic salad with either fish or tuna. I eat very lightly at dinner, forcing myself to be hungry, and I eat a small protein snack at 8:45 p.m. Then it's lights out at 9:00 p.m. Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man/women healthy, wealthy and wise. Because of the gravitational pull of the earth, hours of sleep between 10:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. are considerably more valuable at helping the body regenerate than hours between 2:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.

I think that taking in a minimal amount of chicken, fish and red meat is OK. It can allow us to build muscle and take advantage of an intense athletic/fitness routine, while still allowing us to keep the internal system alkaline and balanced. But the key is organic and high quality. Any food that is prepared for the masses is going to be low quality and create a toxic environment in our bodies.

Another key is this: As hard as it is to slow down, try to socialize with family members, laugh and be in a light-hearted mood when eating. Dinner time is a great time in my house. It is a very important time of reunion and talking. On the health side of things, the bottom line is that if you eat food in a hurried, stressed state, the body will break down, assimilate, and process the nutrition in a vulnerable state. The cells cannot do their job to their full capabilities and will transfer that emotional stress into the cells. Do yourself a favor and slow down at least once a day, visit, laugh, and enjoy the conversation.

slodoranhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17946170464710635925noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1090684554883524538.post-9428571376658041842014-02-07T11:47:00.000-08:002014-02-07T11:47:00.468-08:00Living an Active and Healthy Lifestyle With Sports

Living a quality, healthy lifestyle is more important than the chronological age of a person. Healthy lifestyle choices involve more than just a better diet and exercise. It is a whole new lifestyle choice, one that will make you more energized and feel better in general. Listed below are some tips on healthy life styles choices.

Aside from eating better, it's a good idea to give up smoking and drinking too much alcohol. A glass of wine with meal or a drink every so often is okay but try to give up the daily drinking binges. Smoking and drugs are going to affect your body and brain so now is the time to quit.

Work towards a healthy weight. You can talk to your doctor about healthy weights for your age and height and it's not going to be a size 0. You should figure out what your average, healthy weight needs to be and then get there. You need to be at a healthy weight, too thin and your body works hard to compensate. Too heavy puts too much extra strain on your body. Hitting your average weight give you the balance the body needs to function correctly.

Take time out for yourself. Laugh loud, laugh often. Too much stress can kill you, and it makes you a bummer to be around. Stress can weaken your immune system, so smile and have fun when you can. All work and no play, makes a sick, tired person no one wants to be around. Relax on the weekends, take vacations, and take care of yourself first and foremost.

Healthy lifestyle choices give you more energy and the motivation to get things done. They get you off the couch and out enjoying your life.

slodoranhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17946170464710635925noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1090684554883524538.post-67259923421045798142014-02-05T03:07:00.000-08:002014-02-05T03:07:00.986-08:003 Tips to Creating a Healthy Lifestyle

Everyone wants a healthier lifestyle and be able to live a long life. Most folks know they need to eat less and exercise more, but to live a truly healthy lifestyle means so much more. Creating a healthy lifestyle means adopting a healthy nutrition regimen, moving your body as well as reducing stress and maintaining a positive outlook. While it may seem as if many changes need to be made to adopt a healthy lifestyle, there are some simple ways to begin your healthier regimen. Below, you'll find three core tips to living a healthy lifestyle.

1. Create a healthy nutrition regimen. One of the biggest factors to living a healthy lifestyle is to adopt a healthy eating plan. Make sure to get in a good balance of protein, healthy fats and healthy carbohydrates from fruits and vegetables each day. Reduce or eliminate the amount of processed foods, fast food and soda you consume in a day. The amount of "empty food" being consumed by people each day is staggering and should be reduced drastically or eliminated completely. Eliminating these alone and committing to eating more fresh, whole foods would easily help to increase health and induce weight loss. It's also important to make sure your body is fully hydrated. Water will not only support your metabolism in weight loss but will also aid in your body's absorption of essential nutrients.

2. Moving daily has to also be a commitment in a healthy lifestyle or weight loss plan. This doesn't mean everyone has to run out and join a gym, it simply means people need to move more - whether it's walking, hiking or swimming. Getting out and moving not only helps improve your body it also helps improve your mind and this is the key piece to a successful Weight Loss plan. We are living in a time starved world and most people have very busy lifestyles which means we are moving less. Moving your body not only helps you burn calories but also helps lubricate the joints and challenges your balance.

3. Think positive and reduce stress. Creating a healthy lifestyle is about focusing on gratitude and being committed to positive thinking. This has long been associated with folks who live a healthy life. Stress and negative thinking leads to the production of cortisol which leads to weight gain. In addition, having a more positive attitude leads to a healthier immune system. Your body responds to what your brain tells it, so it is important to constantly feed your body the message that it is healthy and happy. Pretty soon you start to believe it as your mind and your body become more fit. You will soon notice that everything starts to fall into place. You begin to sleep better because you are exercising more and you are eating better because you feel better.

Exercise, eating right and a positive attitude are what is needed to live that healthy lifestyle you always wanted. Start taking steps toward your healthy lifestyle today. Remember to set attainable goals, take baby steps toward your new healthy regimen and make sure your new healthy plan fits into your lifestyle.

slodoranhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17946170464710635925noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1090684554883524538.post-44132161119425456772014-02-03T22:14:00.000-08:002014-02-03T22:14:00.199-08:00Healthy Lifestyle: Activities and Benefits

Living a healthy lifestyle is becoming physically fit and observing proper diet. We cannot possibly become healthy just by eating healthy food alone. On the other hand, one cannot also claim living a healthy lifestyle if little or almost no time at all is spent on some physical activities. A healthy lifestyle, therefore, is a good balance of both.

Saudi Arabia, like any other places in the world, is one country in which healthy lifestyle should continuously be encouraged. With people getting busier on their daily tasks, getting physically active and fit is almost or actually forgotten.

Much as you wanted to opt for a proper, nutritious diet to become healthy, you need to be just as serious in engaging into physical activities and workouts.

Mixing Workout and Training Programs

We are all capable of harboring fats inside our body. Inactive lifestyle and improper eating habits result to accumulation of fat in various areas such as thighs, abdomen, buttocks, and arms. Apart from the fat build-up, sedentary living can also cause a number of unwanted health risks such as obesity, diabetes, and even cancer. To give your body a chance to fight these issues, exercise and healthy diet should be regularly practiced.

People might think that there is only one kind of exercise, the sweaty exercise. However, an exercise should be composed of three training programs: cardiovascular training, resistance or strength training, and flexibility. Ideally, an exercise program should include these three workout regime in order to ensure a holistic and balanced workout.

Endurance Workouts

Cardio workouts are also known as endurance training. This type of training is conducted in order to strengthen the heart and lungs. Typically, it involves activities such as swimming, aerobics, walking, and running.

Resistance/ Strength Training

While cardio exercise focuses on the heart and lungs, resistance training is done in order to build up and toughen the muscle tissues. It also helps eliminate body fats stored in the body. Resistance training is synonymous to weight lifting as this type of exercise involves the use of resistance bands, dumbbells, and machines.

Flexibility

Stretching or flexibility training is less arduous than the first two exercise groups. More often, flexibility workout is done after the cardio and resistance training. It helps cool down the muscle and reduce the tension in your body after a hard workout. Activities such as yoga and Pilates are great in developing your body's flexibility and promoting relaxation.

Reaping the Rewards of Being in Shape

Apart from keeping the body's functionality and fitness, an active lifestyle and a healthy diet can decrease the possibilities of acquiring health problems such as diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and heart diseases. Moreover, they keep the body in tune through diligent burning of body fats and building of muscles.

Other benefits of incorporating exercise in one's lifestyle include:

Reduce Stress and Depression - Having an active lifestyle reduces the body's stress levels and eliminates depression. Since endorphins and other opioid peptides increase during workouts, depression and stress are gradually removed and an improvement in mood and self-esteem is observed.

Increased Metabolism - Since an active exercise requires energy, the body's metabolism increases to sustain the needed energy. Also, workouts encourage the burning of excess fats in the body as well as building up of muscle tissues.

Improvement in Sleeping Patterns - Continuous exercise and development of a dynamic living habits help in maintaining a favorable sleeping routine. Moreover, it also aids in reducing sleep disorders such as insomnia and broken sleeping patterns.

Increase in Brain Functionality - Exercise and constant workout ensure the efficient function of the brain. The constant circulation of oxygen rich-blood in the brain helps reduce brain-bound free radicals and improves cognition and mental awareness.

With all these benefits, who would not want to get active? Having an active and healthy lifestyle is never too late if you will start now.

slodoranhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17946170464710635925noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1090684554883524538.post-2864092980665952652014-02-03T11:53:00.000-08:002014-02-03T11:53:00.050-08:00Living a Healthy Lifestyle Is Easier Than You Think

Happiness is bestowed in a healthy lifestyle. The term 'healthy lifestyle' may sound arduous until you discover it by yourself. A healthy lifestyle undoubtedly gives a magical touch to your life. And what if this magic is created with the least possible effort? Yeah, you'll surely enjoy it. Adapting it is much easier and enjoyable than it seems. If not exaggeration, it is the only way of getting yourself out of this wrecked lifestyle. Let us now look into few easy steps which help in acquiring a healthy lifestyle.

Just need to make small changes
Nothing will come easily, but healthy living will. Healthy lifestyle may be projected as hectic task, but in reality all it takes is very few changes in your regular living. These small adjustments in your lifestyle may require you to forego few ailing habits, like laziness, drug or alcohol abuse, unhealthy food habits, sedentary lifestyle; and adapt few good habits such as, thinking positively, being dedicated, getting active, living natural, keeping clean and most importantly loving yourself. These small changes here and there in your existing lifestyle will definitely make a great difference.

Exercise can make difference
A healthy body is marked by active lifestyle. Nothing can make a body active the way exercise does. Sedentary lifestyle can take you nowhere. The only way you can make your body happy is by moving it. Exercise is known to strengthen your body, act as a stress buster and moreover it is the natural way of maintaining your body and allowing it to perform its regular functions properly.

Simple ways to burn calories
Obesity is a curse to your body. Burdening your body with the unwanted calories will only end up impairing your bodily processes. Simple activities such as taking regular breaks from sedentary lifestyle, walking, stretching, cycling, swimming, dancing, jogging, rowing, elliptical workouts etc., act as great ways to burn calories.

Healthy diet - what to include
Healthy diet and healthy living go hand in hand. Having a balanced diet is very crucial for living healthy. It is very much important to keep yourself away from unhealthy junk food, which has high amounts of unsaturated fats, cholesterol and sugar.

Healthy diet should include a variety of food items such as fruits, vegetables, meat, drinks and much more, which can meet the basic requirements of nutrients, minerals, fats, proteins, carbohydrates, fiber, sugar, and so on. Some of the food items which are needed to be included in daily diet are cereals, green salads, fruits, dairy products etc.

Get enough sleep
Body needs rest, without which it becomes completely exhausted. In that case, however much good diet or positive way of living you adopt, everything goes in vain. A body needs to rejuvenate its cells regularly in course of working to resume its functions with regained energy. Nothing can replace the role of sleep in terms of providing relaxation to the body. Hence enough sleep is a must to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Balance between work and play
Healthy living demands a stress free life. To lead a stress free life, one needs to create a perfect balance between work and play. Monotonous lifestyle is always boring and more importantly discouraging. Taking break from work and indulging yourself in your most liked hobby or activity will surely shoot up your energy levels. This will also enhance your creative side.

Stay in a good company of friends and family members
A healthy lifestyle is a combination of physical and mental well-being. A wholesome life is obtained by having good health, good work environment and healthy relationships. Being in a good company of friends and family members motivates and inspires a person.

Stay away from substance abuse
Ditching bad habits is as important as embracing new habits to lead a healthy lifestyle. Substance abuse is one of the major obstacles for healthy lifestyle. This has become more rampant these days. Addiction to harmful drugs or alcohol will make an individual forego his beautiful future. Hence, if you aspire to have healthy future, it is suggested to stay away from drug abuse.

All the above mentioned points help us in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Living a healthy lifestyle in itself is never hard, but it is the mindset that makes it appear so. When few simple changes can add wonderful meaning to your lifestyle, then why not embrace them.

slodoranhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17946170464710635925noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1090684554883524538.post-81916182030552288782014-02-02T12:59:00.000-08:002014-02-02T12:59:00.521-08:00Four Simple Healthy Lifestyle Habits May Extend Life, Lower Heart Risk
For Older People

Can adopting a healthier lifestyle later in life help -- or is it too late? This was the question researchers from the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston wanted to answer. In the study results published in the July issue of The American Journal of Medicine, the researchers found that these middleaged people, ages 45 to 64, who added healthy lifestyle behaviors could substantially reduce their risk for cardiovascular disease and reduce their death rate.

Once these people achieved four healthy behaviors, investigators saw a 35 percent reduction in CVD incidence and a 40 percent reduction in mortality compared to people with less healthy lifestyles. The four necessary healthy behaviors are:

1. Eating at least five fruits and vegetables daily.

2. Exercising at least 2.5 hours per week .

3. Maintaining a Body Mass Index between 18.5 and 30 kg/m (Note: a person 5'8" weighing 197 pounds would have BMI of 30. Have your physician check yours).

4. Not smoking.

"The potential public health benefit from adopting a healthier lifestyle in middle age is substantial," writes Dana E. King, MD, MS. "The current study demonstrated that adopting four modest healthy habits considerably lowers the risk of cardiovascular disease and mortality in a relatively short-term four-year follow up period. These health findings emphasize that making the necessary changes to adhere to a healthy lifestyle is extremely worthwhile, and that middleage is not too late to act."

There were three key findings from the study :

? First, the benefit of switching to a healthy lifestyle past age 45 became evident even in the fouryear, short-term follow up.

? Second, the beneficial impact of the changes occurred despite the relatively modest changes in health habits.

? Third, the healthy lifestyle was beneficial when compared to all persons with three or fewer healthy habits, not just in comparison to people with none or one habit.

Healthy living is a lifestyle and not a phase one should move in and out of. Although A complete change of life-style may not be the answer at any age these four simple habits may start you in the right direction.

slodoranhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17946170464710635925noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1090684554883524538.post-87791873181218007442014-02-01T13:56:00.000-08:002014-02-01T13:56:00.042-08:00Three Steps to Live a Healthy Lifestyle

What is a healthy lifestyle?

A healthy lifestyle is a choice. A choice to live better and put the amount of sacrifice and hard work it takes to get there. Don't be discouraged though, if this is what you want for you and your family you can do it. Having a healthy lifestyle will have you and your family feeling your best and you'll be a lot happier knowing you're doing what is best for you and your loved ones.

We're going to look at the three main choices that you will have to make everyday. These choices are not huge in depth decisions, they are simple day by day, hour by hour choices. Achieving a healthy lifestyle is accomplished one choice at a time. Over time these choices will be automatic and you won't even have to think about them anymore. They will be built into your routine and be as usual as a cup of coffee in the morning.

Choice #1: What to eat

Think about your daily choices for meals. What does your breakfast, lunch and snacks usually consist of and how much? Do you eat fresh vegetables and fruit? Do you eat enough protein? How is your vegetables, meat and grains usually served?

Vegetables and fruit are very good for us. Fresh or frozen vegetables are the best. Vegetables should be lightly boiled, steamed or baked so as to avoid depleting them of most of their vitamins and minerals. Sure, vegetables smothered in cheese and creamed soups are delicious, but very high in calories and not very good for you. Try to eat at least one raw vegetable and fruit a day. Make sure to get vegetables and fruit. They are different and your body requires both.

The best sources of protein are dairy and meats. About 80 grams of protein per day for the average individual would be about right. Notice I said average. Everybody is different and you should figure out what is best for you. Try to avoid frying meat. Although very yummy, it is also very bad for you. This is part of the reason why you have to detox. The oil from these fried foods will clog your lymph nodes and become toxic after a while. If you get enough protein through dairy and meats each day, you will be getting the right amount of healthy fats also through these two groups.

Choice #2: To exercise or not to exercise?

Yes, exercise. Exercise is essential to being healthy. Try to get your heart rate up at least once every day and also fit in some strength exercises. I don't mean for you to go out and get all the latest exercise equipment and weight sets. Use your own body weight for exercise through push ups, squats, and pull ups. There are experts that only use their body weight to get in shape.

Finding the time to exercise is the key. I struggle with this everyday. This is just another daily choice. It is a really hard choice when it comes down to staying in bed an extra hour in the morning, or sitting around on your lunch break instead of doing that jog around the parking lot followed by some push ups and stretching, but a necessary one in order to have a healthy lifestyle. Exercising gets your blood flowing, burns those extra calories and gets rid of toxins. There is no way around it. We have to exercise.

Choice #3: Incorporate more holistic remedies into your daily routine.

Every morning should start off with a glass of water and a daily vitamin. Also, if you're suffering from a certain ailment or illness, you should be taking an herb for that every day. Find out what you can take for it through the " herbs for list " on the website or research it on your own.

Also, you should be using fresh or dried herbs for everyday cooking. There is so many different herbs for flavoring food it should be very easy to incorporate this into your daily routine. Garlic, chives, cilantro, oregano, parsley and cayenne pepper are just a few of the herbs for spicing up our food.

These are little changes that you can make one day at a time to live healthy. It might seem a little hard and different at first, but soon it will just be part of a routine that will leave you feeling great. Stay updated on healthy tips at HolisticRemedies101.com. You will love your healthy lifestyle and feel good knowing that you're making the right decisions every day.

slodoranhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17946170464710635925noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1090684554883524538.post-85654790803189203562014-01-31T02:33:00.000-08:002014-01-31T02:33:00.558-08:00How to Start Your New Healthy Lifestyle Today

Have you ever noticed that you can always find a reason to put off 'til tomorrow what you can do today? This is especially true when it comes to starting a new healthy lifestyle. Maybe you have a girls trip coming up, an anniversary to celebrate, a birthday party to attend, or it's Wednesday and you prefer to wait until Monday to be healthy. What ever the excuse may be that you use to rationalize procrastinating the start of your new healthy lifestyle, I'm here to tell you to cut it out! There is absolutely no reason for you to delay your personal health and wellness. After all, today is the first day of the rest of your life!

Here are three tips to help you start your new healthy lifestyle today!

Tip #1: Be Honest With Your Self: Honesty is the best policy. If you fall under the category of "excuse maker", you need to own up to it if you have any hope of making a change. Once you can admit that you are making excuses to delay your new healthy lifestyle, you will be able to move forward and do what you have to do in order to get started today!

Tip #2: Make a Plan: I'm a big fan of making a plan. If you have a plan in place, you are one step ahead of the game in terms of getting started on your personal quest for health and well ness. Your plan will need to address both exercise and nutrition. Devising a plan for yourself will create structure, bring about discipline, and lay the foundation for your new healthy lifestyle.

If you recently decided to embark on your new healthy lifestyle but you have a trip planned with the girls for example, don't wait until you get back to start. Instead, start today and call ahead to the hotel to see if they have a gym. If the answer is yes you're all set. If the answer is no, ask if there is a gym nearby that they can recommend. Most gyms allow you to pay a visitor's fee for the day. A park is a great place to get your workout in as well. You could also bring an exercise video or dvd and workout in the comfort of your hotel room. A quick call to your hotel will provide you with all the information you need to make your exercise plan. You most likely will be getting an early start to your day in order to fit your workout in, but think of all the energy you'll have for the rest of the day!

The second part of your plan is nutrition related. Most people tend to throw caution to the wind and go hog wild in terms of food because they are on "vacation." This can lead to a lot of guilt upon the return home and the dreaded task of working off those extra pounds. Instead, make a plan to make smart choices for your meals while you're away. You may even want to pack some healthy snacks from home for your mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks. Most restaurants provide an array of healthy options these days and you can always make amendments to menu items in an effort to eat healthy. Most eating establishments are willing to grant your requests. Then decide when, where, and how you would like to indulge in your cheat meal during your trip. Not cheat meals, not cheat days, but cheat meal! You'll feel much better on your return home in that you practiced self control!

Tip #3: Execute, Execute, Execute: There is no sense in having a plan if you don't execute it. Make the decision to start your new healthy lifestyle today, make a plan, and then execute it! Your body, mind, and spirit will thank you for it!

Health & Success,

Alison

slodoranhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17946170464710635925noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1090684554883524538.post-44128669458962070512014-01-29T13:29:00.000-08:002014-01-29T13:29:00.220-08:00Deciding On The Correct Healthy Lifestyle Choices

Your body is an absolute reflection of your healthy lifestyle choices. For the most part it is very basic to tell what someone thinks about their own health which is seen in their physical body and how they look. You are able to tell when one cares about themselves and they appear physically fit while at the other end of it you realize the people that do not care about their health seeing that they are very overweight and you should see them out at restaurants eating the absolute worst foods possible.

Before I go any further, I know there are some people out there by now yelling at the top of their lungs saying "But I'm born this way!" Unfortunately, Well, I'm not a medical professional so I cannot answer that question towards a biological standpoint. But my personal opinion is that the "genetics" reasoning is thoroughly laughable. Your skinny friend that eats everything she wants and never gains an ounce of weight is like that because she has a faster metabolism. That fast metabolism is because they are being physically active. It's the same thing for the person that is overweight that continues to keep getting bigger and bigger. The reply to that is to start making healthy lifestyle choices. Begin consuming beneficial healthy foods rather than junk and begin exercising. Your metabolism will then increase which will also help you burn fat.

So what are these decisions that you need to make so that you can live a healthy life? As I said, start by fixing those eating habits. And this does not only mean to count how many calories you eat & drink. Even if you meet your calorie goals for the day, it doesn't mean you're being healthy. You should watch what foods you consume as part of those calories. If it's made up of candy and chips, you're not doing your body any favors. So begin by eating fresh fruits & vegetables, lean meats, and high protein foods. In fact, as you get started with a new healthy lifestyle plan, don't even walk up and down the aisles at the supermarket. Stick to the edge of the store and you should find everything you need to eat healthy (except for the bakery section).

You should additionally get started in some sort of regular workout program to begin to improve your healthy lifestyle choices. If you're very overweight, you obviously would not run a race tomorrow or begin doing the exercises which an athlete would do, but you have to begin somewhere. Rather than sitting on the couch today, take half an hour and go for a walk. Then tomorrow do exactly the same, but push yourself to take fifty additional steps in the same amount of time. Slowly increase the number of steps and/or minutes until you can run the entire 30 minutes. This will not happen overnight and it could actually take you several months to get to this point depending where you currently are. While continuing to work to that, add a little bit of strength training to your exercise program. This is very good for you and will be of great help to your body and increase your metabolism.

The combination of a beneficial nutrition and a little physical activity will put you on the correct track to having a life of health. Those eating habits will consist of about eighty percent of how you look, so it is obviously of great importance. Your workout routine will consist of the other 20%. This may allow you tone your body as well as giving you that extra push for weight loss and become healthy.

Your choice to live a healthy lifestyle is your own decision. No one can make you a believer of it and it has to be something you want to have. If you do not want to change how you live it just will not happen. You must desire that vision and set the goals for yourself in order to have success with these healthy lifestyle choices.

slodoranhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17946170464710635925noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1090684554883524538.post-43887594666796280772014-01-28T03:15:00.000-08:002014-01-28T03:15:00.029-08:00Healthy Lifestyle Food Choices That Promote Healthy Eating For Your
Family

The best way to living a healthy lifestyle, eating healthy and forming healthy eating habits for the long run, has always come from within, within the home that is. We cannot look to others, books, magazines and publications for making us a healthy family or giving us the healthy lifestyle we would want to live. Sure these publications could give us the inspiration and motivation to take that step ourselves and to live a healthy lifestyle of choice. Everything still ends up with the home and family and we need to take that extra step in being courageous consumers when it comes to our choice of food.

One of those choices would be whether we want to continue eating obese foods, such as fast food, refined foods, processed foods or bleached foods. We need to take the responsibility and get back to what Mother Nature provided us, with food in its natural form, without any instructions to refine or process these foods. Obesity is directly linked to bad food choices in the form of highly refined carbohydrates and sugars which really is only a form of poison to our bodies. Gone are the days when considering those foods nutritious or beneficial to our families.

A solution each of us have available is to return to the bygone years of food production, or processing at home, sure it is less convenient, but the benefits are overwhelming an in a sense, you don't have to watch what you eat really if you are consuming natural, high fibrous and unprocessed food. These foods will not only provide a healthy lifestyle, but will enable you to take care of a healthy family through healthy cooking and eating.

Ways to produce healthy food for your family would be to look at obtaining a grain mill and natural whole wheat grains which you can mill in your own time and for purposes you need such as baking and providing daily natural and fresh bread to your family. Another would be to start a victory garden, or vegetable garden in your back yard or in smaller pots in order to provide your own vegetables and salad items for the table. These foods are so healthy and nutritious for your family that you would reap the benefits almost immediately without worries of consuming unnatural processed and refined foods from the store.

Make healthy cooking and eating a priority for your family and the benefits will be seen before long. Benefits would include healthy digestion, disease fighting nutrition, obesity suppression etc. which will lead to a healthy family and lifestyle you will be grateful for. Not to mention the fun and satisfaction in producing your own food, being independent wholly from buying all your food from the supermarket. You can start your journey on the road of independence and take charge of your healthy eating habits, cooking and eating to promote your healthy family.

A last word on healthy eating habits is this: there are many ways to promote the healthy family lifestyle you want and deserve, look at fresh produce you can grow in your own yard, storing whole grain which will last years, and when milled will give you the best and freshest whole wheat flour you can use for all your healthy cooking requirements. Canning vegetables and sauces is very easy too and is a skill you can learn in a very short time. In a day and age where the economic future is uncertain, being able to produce and store your own healthy food is vital to your health and lifestyle you would like to preserve

slodoranhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17946170464710635925noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1090684554883524538.post-20873793453549449092014-01-27T01:51:00.000-08:002014-01-27T01:51:00.263-08:00Benefits Of A Healthy Lifestyle

Here are 8 benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

This Article is written to reach the public with a simple and clear method to point out and to reap the benefits of a healthy lifestyle while reducing the risks of chronic diseases such as diabetes.

With the increased understanding of our bodies that we have gained from science over the past few decades, the benefits of a healthy lifestyle are becoming more apparent, along with the reasons why we should detoxify the body at least once a year to remove harmful bacteria, and even worms, from our digestive system. For people of all ages, weights, and abilities the benefits of a healthy lifestyle are endless. But for now let's look at eight simple benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

1. Your Health:

Good Health is not something that you buy from a drug store or a department store, but can be achieved by practicing collective patterns of health-related behavior, based on choices made from available options. Following this logic, if you wish to realize the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, you have to repeat some healthy pattern as a part of your daily or weekly activities, some patterns like eating right and exercising. Weight:

Managing your weight is the key to attaining all of the health benefits of a Healthy Lifestyle. A weight reduction of just 10 percent will significantly reduce risk of heart disease and other obesity-related illnesses. Obesity/overweight is the second leading contributing factor to many childhood diseases such as orthopedic disorders, sleep apnea, type II diabetes mellitus, asthma, high blood pressure and cholesterol, skin disorders, emotional and psychosocial problems (Spigel, 2002), and many more. Weight-bearing exercise such as walking and strength training helps slow the onset of and/or prevent osteoporosis and some research shows that participating in such activities can actually build bone density and begin to reverse the disease. Other benefits are: Weight reduction, reduced tension and stress, improved well-being, Enhanced self-image and self-esteem and improved physical function.

3. Exercise:

Although drugs alone can often bring cholesterol down to normal levels, diet and exercise provide benefits that drugs don't. They'll lower blood pressure, reduce weight, and lower the risk of developing diabetes. A sedentary lifestyle is a dangerous risk factor for disease. Exercise and a healthy diet helps the body use insulin more efficiently and can help control, alleviate and prevent many diseases. Exercise, cessation of tobacco consumption, eating a high-fiber, low-fat diet, controlling body weight, and learning to cope with stress, reduce the risk of heart disease.

4. Medical:

We all want a trim and have healthy body for a variety of aesthetic, social and medical reasons. Healthy living is truly the best medicine. In a study conducted by Tufts University at the New England Medical Center, among patients with cardiovascular disease, an exercise program was shown to significantly reduce LDL cholesterol and other risk factors beyond what's provided by drug therapy. Even modest weight loss can help reduce medical and pharmacy costs, help avoid bariatric surgery, and co-morbidities such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes.

5. Wellness:

Wellness is about being comfortable in your space: your body, your attitude, and your environment. A healthy lifestyle can greatly increase a person's longevity. And even though catching something contagious like a cold or flu is sometimes unavoidable, having the wisdom that feeling healthy is a better way to live should have you asking yourself why you are not taking action to live each day as beneficially as possible. The issue with a lot of people nowadays is that they are so busy working and/or taking care of everyone around them, that they neglect their own health and wellness. Make sure your heart is healthy and your bones are strong and Keep it that way to see the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

6. Care:

The best way to ensure good health is by taking care of yourself. The Care stakes are high but the potential rewards are great-preventing premature death, unnecessary illness, and disability, controlling health care cost, and maintaining a high quality of life into old age. With a healthy lifestyle, you are who you are and you don't have to be self-conscious about those things that you otherwise would be if you didn't care about your lifestyle

7. Control:

With a healthy lifestyle, you have more control of your life as you work with your body against those aspects of living which may work to hold you back if you would let them. With a healthy lifestyle, you have control over your sleep patterns so that you feel generally well rested throughout the day. With a healthy lifestyle, everything works together to help other aspects of your lifestyle make sense and benefit you. Science has proven that healthy weight loss, healthy eating and fitness routines make dramatic improvements in health, and help control common chronic illnesses like high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, stress, and general lack of stamina.

8. Strength:

Another benefit of a healthy lifestyle is a steady flow of stamina and strength; you can perform activities and exercises that will enhance your flexibility. With a healthy lifestyle, you have a balanced and varied diet that provides your body its needed nutrients and energy as well. You have strength to train to help build the muscle that supports the bones and joints; therefore decreasing the risk of falls and fractures. Cardiovascular exercise, also known as aerobic exercise, strengthens the heart muscle, therefore increases the heart's efficiency. As we age, our bones biologically begin to lose mass and strength.
